my miniscule opinion about what is our present band now...FORGIVE ME IF I ACTUALLY INSULTED ANY OF U ALL OUT THERE.IM SO SORRY...just my opinions in which we are lousy at and how we can improve.
PRESENT BAND
Clarinet-Bad fingering techniques,Not enough air,playing as an individual more than as a section and with the whole band.Lacking the confidence in where entry is supposed to occur and following the tempos of the music.
Flute-Lack the air in which intonation can reach a perfect point(i think?),and fear of losing techniques at the solo parts(forgive me but i think much of the fault may fall into instruments=/)Everything is still quite organised as i noticed the section does much sectionals together as a section and can play though parts as a whole.
Oboe-I have nothing to say here as the sec 2 here is the ownage factor...but he needs new instrument too.
Saxaphone-Not enough air to carry out the mellow voice of many passages.Each individual have many different tones,namely back to the instruments so they are forced to adapt to a lower shade of tone that mr tan dislikes.Pushing may be another factor here?.
Trumpet-Main prob here is being afraid to take the 1st place among the band.Always afraid to make a solo or only their section blowing wrong,passages are usually soft without the driving energy that mr tan yearns.Air is another factor here as each member is afraid to exert and take over the place as the section that can stand out the most.
French Horn,Euphonium,Trombone-The reason why i grouped this 3 section together is because the all share the common objective.Each section is supposed to be so strong that they can destroy windows and buildings with plain sound alone.I know im exaggerating,but this is how we can convey the meaning mr tan wants.Fingering and uncertainty is another problem of euphonium.Air is also the main factor among this 3 sections.
Tuba-Steady and strong tempo is an essential for this section.The tuba is supposed to be the strongest among brasses,holding the most rooted position.This section is sometimes uncertain on where they are supposed to stand.Air may be a factor.
OVERALL-Brasses are supposed to be strong enough to make the floor vibrate(=))while the woodwinds are supposed to contradict the strong power with harmonious and moving passages.The contradiction will then break into a perfect harmony,which mr tan will let it wash over him.Another thing about our band is that hesistation always causes u to kill our own endings.Did anyone noticed that our KAZE-NO-MAI ending was horrible?lol.
my opinion of wads hindering the band,those who have suggestions can u guys tag?xD
And facing this problems together,we should always strive as a band together and improve.together we shall overcome this problems and be united as one to continue our conquest down this few years,molding the band to be yet united and happy and a strong band that can appreciate good music here and there
